Over time the type of number used on US military dog tags has changed. There are three main types of numbers used since 1918:
- Service Numbers
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Department of Defense ID (DoDID)

Veteran Jam is a non-profit organization operated out of Asheville, NC. Their mission is to increase awareness of the sacrifices and struggles of our veterans through community events aimed to foster purposeful and healing relationships.

It was started by the friends and family of SPC Dan Flaugh in 2012 as a memorial to Dan and a tribute to all service members struggling with the mental and physical damages of war.
