U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) format Dog Tags, replicas based on the 1975-2015 regulations. Made from mil-spec embossed stainless steel.
This format is for Marines who were issued tags between 1975 to 2015 using a Social Security number. This was eventually replaced in 2015 with the DoD ID number (EDIPI) (which we offer as Modern Issue Dog Tags).
Use as a replacement or spare for regulation issued set.
Unlike Army tags, only 1st and 2nd initials are used as opposed to the full first name. The branch name USMC, and gas mask size is also indicated. Depending on the issuing base, dogtags were either Embossed or Debossed as machines were replaced over time, we offer both options below (but Embossed is easier to read). ποΈ

Why do people buy Dog Tags?
- Veterans order replacement sets of Dog Tags because they have lost their originals, they have been 'borrowed' by family members, or they want to give sets to their family as a memento.
- Family members and friends who want to create a little bit of history to celebrate and remember their loved ones.
- Veterans who never received Dog Tags (i.e. reservists).
Why are some 80s & 90s Era Tags debossed or have notches?
Are these authentic Dog Tags?
- Our templates will help you make a set of tags that are true to the regulation formats of the period you choose, although there may be minor variations depending on how precise the person who made your originals was.
- We offer both an authentic EMBOSSED (modern) Dog Tag font or the historical DEBOSSED (vintage) font depending on how the originals were issued.

More About USMC Dog Tags 1975-2015
The era spanning from the late 70s to mid 2010s covered many conflicts including: The Cold War, Beirut, Central America, Bosnia, Somalia, Persian Gulf War (Desert Shield and Desert Storm), The War on Terror (Afghanistan and The Middle East), Operation Iraqi Freedom, and many more.
Regardless of where one served whether at home or overseas, the Dog Tags themselves were standardized depending on the branch of service.
During this period the Debossed Tags from the Vietnam era were replaced with the modern Embossed style still in use today, although some bases continued to use the older deboss machines to issue new tags. Even the No-notch tag was issued in 1967 some bases still continued to issue notched tags until supplies ran out.
The Social Security number was the only numerical identifier used on dogtags during this period, which was eventually phased out in the mid 2010s in favor of the DoD ID number. If you require tags with the DoD ID number please see our Modern Dog Tags templates.

Not to be used for impersonation!
Not only is Stolen Valor unethical and disrespecful to our service members and veterans, it IS illegal in most jurisdications to impersonate a member of the armed forces. Unlike Military ID Cards, dogtags are not a valid form of official military identification so it is not illegal per se to wear them. However lying about military service or trying to pass yourself of as a service member or vet by wearing a uniform or medals that were not earned is criminalized in some circumstances, especially if done with the goal of obtaining money or other kinds of tangible benefits. Under no circumstances should dog tags be worn with this intent.
