Black Latex rubber ring cut from real gas-mask hose! Original improvised WWII style. (May hide edge letters!)
The original silencer! Sometime during WWII Dogtag silencers were invented by innovative G.I.'s who cut the rings from their un-needed gas mask hoses! They just happened to be the perfect size to fit around their dogtags and keep them from clinking together! See our irreverent video on the History of Dogtag silencers and their origin during WWII.
We make these unique historical reproductions in-house by rough-cutting them from gas-mask hoses using scissors. The edges will not be clean and smooth, giving them a genuine home-made WWII silencer look and feel. This is not as stretchy as silicone so it is more difficult to put on the Dogtag, however it will last longer and won't come off easily.
Due to the extra thickness, these silencers will tend to cover letters on the dogtags near the edges, can be pulled back to reveal them.
Since this is made from latex rubber, please be mindful of latex allergies!
To install this silencer, first stretch it out a little bit by pulling from either side with your fingers.
